My Macbook Pro is over two years old now, it’s a 2Ghz core duo, revision A, as in… the first Macbook made available by Apple!
Sometime down the track Apple did a battery recall, I had a new battery sent to me to replace the existing one. How nice.
Some 184 cycles later and the battery only lasts about 40 mins. I asked my local Apple service centre if I could get a replacement, thinking my chances would be slim. How wrong was I!
Here I am, with a fresh, brand new, Macbook Pro battery! This goes nicely with the new pack I bought off ebay (also brand new) for around $70 AUD. Score, two really fresh batteries
Just need to take care of the little guys now! hehe. If you have a Rev A Macbook Pro, you might be able to get yourself a new battery (if yours is on it’s way out)… you should at least try!

I phoned up DigiLife yesterday (apple reseller) to enquire about bringing in my macbook pro for a service. It has a squeeky spacebar and it’s driving me up the wall. (sounds like nothing, but trust me it’s so damn annoying)
They said the turnaround time is about 7 days. 7 DAYS WITHOUT MY MACBOOK PRO. This is my life, my work, everything. What the -hell- am I going to do?
I was told over the phone if it’s simple, and a matter of reseating the space bar, it could be an overnight job. Otherwise a whole new top plate (integrated keyboard, trackpad, top, etc) needs to be replaced. The part would need ordering, therefore the wait. *sigh*
how am I going to play with photobooth?:

I currently use a cheap logitech USB headset for chatting in skype on my Macbook Pro or iMac, it’s wired, and a bit clunky.
I’ve been meaning to do something about this and go for some kind of wireless solution. I’m going to kill two birds with one stone, and get myself a bluetooth over-ear earpiece.
I’ve settled on the Plantronics Voyager 510, after reading a few blogs and sites on success with pairing on a mac and using the unit as a general audio in/out device. This is good news. I’ve also heard good things on the quality of audio, which is important.

How am I killing two birds with one stone? Well I can use it for skype/ichat/whatever on my mac, and also for my mobile phone.
I’ve never been a fan of the ‘look’ of having one of these things attached to my head, and I promise not to walk around -everywhere- with it on mine… I’ll see how I go and will report back with my luck when the unit arrives (it’s on order).
I saw a post on a forum that I frequent from someone asking about cleaning their laptop.
Most manufacturers recommend just cleaning with a damp cloth of some sort, not me! I’ve been using these Screen-Clene thingo’s, they are like a ‘wipe’. They work really well and are non alcoholic (like me, heh heh, cough)
Open the pack, remove the wipe, wipe your machine down and then go over it with a tissue or cloth. presto, cleano!

The Booq Viper EXO arrived today. How exciting. It’s very nice, laptop fits snug, my stuff fits in there nice. Although it can get squeezy! It seems really tough, and the protection for my Macbook Pro is rather good! The shoudler strap is pretty cool and made out of seatbelt style material (like in your car), it’s uber strong.
I bought this bag from

The high quality zippers are nice, and it has room for your laptop, power supply, some cables, a mouse, your mobile/pda, an iPod, and maybe a magazine or two. It’s certainly not the kind of case to carry books and loads of accessories in. Mainly suitable for your machine and the stuff that goes with it.
I’ll see how it goes when I leave work today with it, how it feels, how heavy it all is, etc. I can already tell it’s lighter than lugging around my Dicota Alusight (which is now for sale)
Here’s a mobile phone picture of the new Booq Viper EXO with my MBP inside. I’ll try to get some quality photo’s online soon!

The spacebar on my macbook pro is squeeky and it’s really pissing me off! Do I take it in for a look, or do I try sort it out myself? grrrr! I cant even see how to get this thing off!
