Apple Wireless Keyboard

The other day my wife’s Macbook Pro decided to spit out one of it’s fans. It wasn’t happy. We decided to stop using it while it was being repaired in case it over heated or something.

Luckily, we have a handful of Mac’s in the house, so I set her up with the Mac Mini and migrated her data from her laptop so she could still play her cards widget, check facebook and email her friends…. you know, important stuff :)

Problem. We only have a cruddy Microsoft USB keyboard. Bleh.

While I was at my local Apple store dropping the MBP off for repair, I decided to grab an Apple Wireless Keyboard. This thing isn’t bad, actually, it’s excellent.

My Mac Mini doesn’t have bluetooth or wifi, but I do have a D-Link DBT-122 USB bluetooth adapter. I crossed my fingers that it would work. After getting the keyboard home and trying it all out, it worked just fine. The BT dongle appeared straight away after plugging it in, no config required. I unpacked and fired up the keyboard and started the pairing process. All good.

This keyboard is much like the Macbook and Macbook AIR keyboard. Low profile cube-style buttons. Nice. It’s light, aluminum and sexy.

Anyway. Melissa’s Macbook Pro is back from repair and she no longer needs the Mac Mini (which is due to be installed into the car anyway). I’ll either use the wireless keyboard myself, or put it in the kitchen on the kitchenmac or even get it running with the Apple TV in the living room :)

It will probably come in hand when I finally get myself a nice large monitor for my desk and start using my Macbook Pro at home in “closed lid” mode.

If your after a keyboard for your mac, do yourself a favor and check it out!
