too many adverts! time to cut back

As you may have noticed (how can you not?) there are some google adverts on this site. I embed some within my blog posts, and have some scattered elsewhere on the site.

I’ve decided to cut back somewhat on the advertising. I’ve come to realise that this is a fairly low traffic web site and unless your getting thousands of visits a day, then the ad’s really just don’t do much at all!

About all they do is annoy the sh1t out of readers! especially if poorly placed! so you’ll notice a cut back in advertising, or at least a re-arrangement! I hope it makes viewing more pleasureable!

new digital camera Canon IXUS 75

ixus75-black-front-angle.jpg

This week I purchased my wife a new digital camera for her birthday. It’s a Canon IXUS 75, or Canon 750 in the USA.

It’s a 7.1mpx camera, with 3″ LCD, takes SD/SDHC cards, has 3 optical zoom, and so on….
more specs here
First impressions? it’s really small and great to use, the 3″ LCD is damn cool and very pleasing to the eye.

Have had some issues getting the Macbook Pro to recognize it, so will probably end up just using a card reader, like I do with my Canon 350D. Saves camera battery anyway!

new site, and off to race r/c

So I’ve started building a new web site dedicated to my previous show and race car, PULSSSAR. It will basically be a content site, with history, build log, multimedia, specifications and more. Stay tuned as I should have it completed in a week or so.

Also, this weekend is the WAORMA Challenge in Bunbury, it’s a 1/10th electric R/C off-road event where the top 20 drivers in the state are invited to race. I’ll be hopefully racing 2wd and 4wd buggies, should be great fun, I’ll have a small write-up afterwards!

fireflyhelicopter.com

Today i setup another “mashup” site for a niche product, Firefly RC Helicopters. (or just RC Helicopters in general)

It uses the same youtube/google/ebay script that I setup for http://www.bbqdownunder.com/

Check the site out: http://www.fireflyhelicopter.com/

bbqdownunder.com

I’ve had this domain sitting around doing very little for almost a year so I figured it was time to put it to use somewhat.

For now, I’ve thrown up a simple youtube, ebay, amazon mashup site. Take a look:
http://www.bbqdownunder.com/

the links at the top allow you to dynamically alter the site to that item/topic. The site will refresh and display ebay, amazon and youtube items that are relevent!

double click to play

Well what a surprise when I woke up the other day and had a little browse of the Apple Australia website. Brand new iMac’s plastered all over the front page. Impressions? WOW. I have to say I like the new look. Thinner, new casing, absolutely stunning. Once again Apple have redefined ‘design’.

What about the new Keyboards? They sure look cool, but how do they feel, what’s the keypress action like? It looks much like a macbook keyboard. I’ll need to check them out!

iLife’08! Well it’s been a while coming, I honestly thought they would wait until the release of Leopard, but no!

What else? Oh yeah! the Mac Mini got a speed bump. This is interesting…. The Mini hasn’t had an update for quite some time and I honestly thought Apple were going to CAN the unit completely. Surprise Surprise!

What’s next from Apple? Leopard? new iPods? next rev iPhones? hrmmm!
